Shot across two rare contest windows in one year, early February and December, this project centers on the athletes who face Nazaré at its most extreme. Beyond the main production, where water microphones were placed on the riders, I documented the moments in between: preparation, focus, recovery, and the quiet tension before impact. The images capture not only the raw power of the waves, but the physical and mental commitment required to meet them.
